Why

CREATIVELY EDUCATE

“The principle goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done.”

Jean Piaget (1896 – 1980)

TED TALKS CREATIVE Education

TED Talks are a great way to join the discussion on why creativity in education is so important. We know that there is a skills gap and we need more students studying STEM in further and higher education. But we need to not forget that importance the arts has when considering the skills our students need for the future. Below is possibly one of the the most famous 'creative education' seminars from Ken Robinson. You can find more in our BLOG, we try and post links to views we are listening to.

TRAINING

Moving Science for Scicomm

Movement training for Science Communicators

Steph and Kelly check back with students from Cheltenham Science Festival about the forces they learnt in just a 1 hour workshop

Moving Science Workshops

SUITABLE FOR: Key Stage 2

The sun is our source of life on earth, without it we wouldn't be able to exist. In this workshop we explore the Sun, and find out more about this burning ball! We also look as the life of stars in our solar system.

Burning Ball

SUITABLE FOR: Key Stage 2

Explore ten forces and their names, properties and functions with FLUX Dance. FLUX Moving Science is an innovative, creative and fun way to explore STEM subjects. See the science of forces come alive through kinaesthetic learning.

EXPRESSIVE FORCES

SUITABLE FOR: Key Stage 2 & 3

Binary! Compass! Digital! How can dance help you to understand what’s going on inside your computer? Join Flux Dance to find out as they explore programming and coding through movement, creativity and lots of games. Get to grips with the language of computing.

CREATIVE CODING

SUITABLE FOR: Key Stage 2 & 3

See how the different joint types in our bodies work to enable movement and explore different body systems and their functions with FLUX Dance. FLUX Moving Science is an innovative, creative and fun way to explore STEM subjects.

The Hip Bones Connected to the?

SUITABLE FOR: Key Stage 2

Like the world around us, our bodies can be used to make all different types of structures. In this exploratory workshops, students play with the concepts of  tension, compression, bending, torsion, and shear help build our environment.

Built Environment

SUITABLE FOR: Key Stage 2

In this workshop we explore volcanoes and imagine what it might be like to live by one. Students learn different types of volcanoes, how they were created and look at some historic eruptions in history.

ERUPTIVE MOVES

KINETIC MOVES

SUITABLE FOR: Key Stage 3

This is a longer term project for students studying in Key stage 3. Through the students own research, they develop a dance theatre piece inspired by communication technology. Learning about Wifi, Signal and Data, the students investigate technology they rely upon in day to day life.

Communication Technology

SUITABLE FOR: Key Stage 2 & 3

A wide range of invisible light energies exists beyond the reach
of unaided human senses. They dominate the science and
technology of the modern world. In this workshop we explore how
the Electromagnetic Spectrum is used to help us communicate
and how we utilise different light waves for different things.

LIGHT WAVES
