MOVING ENGINEERING PROJECT

Moving Engineering

FLUX is delighted to bring a brand new project to primary and secondary schools with the generous support of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Moving Engineering combines movement & dance with coding, programming and communication technologies to engage students in Science Technology Engineering & Maths (STEM).

Our Aims

  • Use the Arts as a platform to engage students who have relatively little affinity to STEM

  • Encourage teachers to continue cross-curricular learning as a pathway to STEM

  • Strengthen students’ communication, creative thinking and social skills

  • The project will initially pan Warwickshire in the summer term with a selection of schools spread geographically across the county, in both urban and rural areas.

  • We hope to then offer this project to schools throughout the UK.

Why work with us?

FLUX was founded in 2012, it is a dance-theatre company that specializes in scientific public engagement.  Their Educational Outreach has been formed in response to government initiatives to increase the amount of students studying STEM subjects in further and higher education. Their work has been endorsed by some of the UK's leading scientific institutions and supported by researchers, teachers and parents alike. It is at the forefront of 'STEAM' education and has been recognised by The British Science Association as an outstanding teaching practice.
